Are you looking to head abroad this summer? While the weather in England is beautiful at time of writing, we all know that a rainy day is set to be upon us at any moment. This is why so many British tourists make their way to a huge number of destinations around the world, and with the school holidays from July to September, there’s no better time to head abroad than in the summer. While the British summer time means some countries in Asia and Australasia for example are experiencing their wet season, Europe comes into full bloom, leaving an extremely varied, yet beautiful number of countries that you can choose from if you’re looking for a sunny, summer destination. If you’re going travelling this summer, or you’re simply looking to travel at some point throughout 2017, we’ve put together a list of essentials that should make your travel checklist!
Visas & EHIC
No matter where you’re headed in 2017, make sure you have your visa sorted. While many countries will be able to provide you with a tourist visa either when you land in the airport, or on the plane as you are getting ready for landing, there are some countries (like America) that you will need to ensure you have a visa for before you attempt to enter. If you’re travelling to Europe as an EU citizen however, you won’t really need a visa. What you should make sure you remember however, is to carry out an EHIC renewal UK side, so you have some form of cover in case of an emergency. It is important to remember however that this is not a replacement for travel insurance, and you should always have both!
Sun Cream
If you’re going somewhere that you know is going to be hot and sunny, make sure you don’t forget to pack your sun cream. While you may think that you’ll be able to buy some while you’re in the country, it is important to be aware that you may need it from the airport or train station to your actual destination. Sunburn or sunstroke can really ruin your travel experience, so it’s best to stay safe by packing some sun cream with you, and then topping up while you’re on holiday.
Mobile Phone Charger & Travel Plug
There’s nothing worse than heading abroad and realising that you’ve a) left your mobile phone charger at home or b) you’ve brought your phone charger but you haven’t got a travel plug meaning you can’t actually charge your phone! In a world where communication and technology is so important, living without your mobile phone due to the fact that it has run out of battery can be an extremely tiring and somewhat distressing fate. The likelihood is, you’re going to have people back at home that are going to want to know where you are and if you’re safe, and not having your phone charged will only worry them more. Make sure you’ve got these two items on your checklist to ensure no unnecessary worries along the way!
