Prince Charles’ gas-guzzling Bentley limousine is set to sell for just £12,000 later this month.
The heir to the throne is known for his environmentalism and recently took delivery of a zero-emissions Jaguar I-Pace.
But 24-years ago he was chauffeur-driven around in this 1994 Bentley Turbo RL – a then £80,000 car – fitted with a 6.75-litre V8 engine.
The four-door motor, which delivers around 300bhp, is capable of 0-60mph in seven seconds and a top speed of 140mph.
However, it weighs more than two tonnes and, thanks to its large engine, will do just 13 MILES to the gallon.
The Bentley, which has been driven more than 140,000 miles in less than a quarter-of-a-century, is set to sell for just £12,000 when H&H Auction it on October 17 at IWM Duxford in Cambridgeshire.
Since leaving the Royal fleet in 1996, the green-coloured Bentley has had two further owners and records show a near impeccable MOT history since 2006.
The Bentley was serviced in June and comes complete with extensive maintenance history, original handbooks and service books, large collection of invoices and is MOTd until July 2019.
Inside, the ex-Royal motor has leather seats, a walnut trim and rear reading lights.
James McWilliam, from the H&H Classics sales team, said: “One can only wonder who sat on these seats beside the famous owner, where they went and what the conversations might have been?
“Prince Charles and Princess Diana married in July 1981, separated in 1992, and divorced in 1996.
“So this Bentley would have been owned by Prince Charles during the time that his life was moving into a new phase, post Diana.”
