This week a council sparked fury as locals were told not to swim with their ‘mouths open’ after sewage dumps.
“Ultimately this is the consequence of having water companies run for profit and seeking the cheapest and easiest solution, which is to continue polluting our treasured waterways," Labour has said.
Not one river in England can be categorised as clean, a group of MPs said.
