Virginia Giuffre will have her day in court after a judge ruled her civil lawsuit against Andrew can move forward.
Virginia Giuffre will have her day in court after a judge ruled her civil lawsuit against Andrew can move forward.
"Andrew is seeking to use a legal loophole, a technicality, to avoid scrutiny over claims of sexual abuse. That is totally unacceptable."
“What is a ‘potential defendant’ as distinguished from a ‘defendant’?” asked the Judge.
A US lawyer argued that the settlement "makes no sense" and "flies in the face" of New York law which grants sexual abuse survivors more time to sue.
The $500,000 Settlement Agreement represents a final resolution of a disputed claim and is intended to avoid litigation.
Prince Andrew is "using a legal process initiated by his old friend Jeffrey Epstein to defend him rather than addressing the substance of the allegations," The Mirror's Kevin Maguire tweeted.
Also victim Virginia Giuffre tweeted: "Others must be held accountable. I have faith that they will be."
Victims have since claimed Epstein had a large bed installed on the jet where guests had group sex with young girls, fulfilling their warped fantasies.
David Rowland settled Andrew's loan at a bank in Luxembourg controlled by his family.
