The former first minister Nicola Sturgeon broke her silence with a statement outside their Glasgow home after her husband was arrested.
Earlier this week, former chief executive Peter Murrell, who is Nicola Sturgeon’s husband, was arrested on Wedneday.
The former first minister said she had ‘no prior knowledge of Police Scotland’s action or intentions’ after her husbands arrest.
Nicola Sturgeon made the shocking announcement in February that she would stand down as first minister and SNP leader.
Detectives are said to have questioned him and searches have been carried out at a number of properties. Mr Murrell married Sturgeon in 2010.
She said holding the post for the last eight years “truly has been the privilege of my lifetime”.
“Looking at me, looking at that photograph now, it’s clear I’m in a lot of pain.”
A number of unions, think tanks, charities and Holyrood committees have also voiced concern about the proposed centralised service.
