Members of the RMT, the TSSA and Unite will walk out for 24 hours today, affecting Network Rail and a number of train companies across the country.

He gave a similarly rousing speech on Wednesday in Glasgow as he declared, 'We refuse to be meek... we're not having it anymore'.

The campaign is calling for a real pay rise, reduced energy bills, an end to food poverty and decent homes for all.

The fact is that working-class people "don't get a chance to express theirselves", the trade union secretary said.

"I don’t understand how any one can’t see this is common sense," said one person after listening to Lynch's comments.
