A tweet from Scott's Twitter account Scottywwfc was directed at Rashford minutes after he missed a penalty in the shoot-out defeat to Italy on Sunday night.
"I'm Marcus Rashford, 23-year-old black man from Withington and Wythenshawe, South Manchester. If I have nothing else I have that."
Police are treating the incident in Withington, south Manchester, as a hate crime.
The Manchester United striker was one of three players who missed from the spot last night.
