Labour has won Wandsworth and Southampton from the Tories, but lost Hull to the Lib Dems.
Tory Councillors have turned on Boris Johnson following losses across the country, with one saying there is anger in the local party.
"I’m guessing Carrie has a postal vote so she doesn’t have to be seen with him. And I bet she didn’t show it to him either," Alastair Campbell said.
Queues outside polling stations have formed as people try access food banks in the same buildings, according to local reports.
Thornberry tweeted: "We've spoken to many other Westminster residents voting Labour today, with this ex Tory Minister or are staying at home."
Polling stations have opened in the local elections, with council seats in Scotland, Wales, London and many parts of England up for grabs.
'Local' Conservatives in Hartlepool pleaded with voters not to punish them for the mistakes made in Westminster. The Red Wall town only turned blue this time last year!
