The frontrunner in the Tory leadership race has looked to curry favour with the Tory right, despite being a Lib Dem and a Remainer in the past.
Her remarks about her own education has drawn criticism from political leaders in the city, and former pupils and staff of her former school.
In an often-repeated line of her leadership campaign, Ms Truss said she saw “first hand how children were failed and let down by low expectations” during her comprehensive state schooling in Leeds.
"What is of greatest concern, is that they are all cut from the same cloth. The public's opinion of politicians can surely never have been lower than it is now. REAL change is required, not this farce," said one person in response to the letter.
"Liz Truss’s attempt at looking authoritative is more like someone’s explaining autumn to her," wrote Toby Earle.
One senior police source described the policy as "incoherent shi*t", according to Lizzie Dearden from the Independent.
And the winner of the leadership debate once again was... Labour.
Liz Truss appeared to not know what to do, and froze before walking over to see if she was alright.
"Fashion choices got more airtime than climate change. We’ve gone full batsh*t," tweeted Marina Purkiss as she watched the debate.
