He said, in the language of the 1948 UN Convention, conditions have been calculated to "bring about the destruction of Palestinians".
Three shadow ministers – Yasmin Qureshi, Afzal Khan and Paula Barker – quit on Wednesday evening to back calls for a ceasefire in Gaza.
"We wanted to show our support to those in Palestine."
Israel has been vague about its operations in Gaza, but residents and spokesmen for militant groups say troops appear to be trying to take control of the two main north-south roads.
The Labour leader has insisted that he was "not saying Israel had the right had the right to cut off water, food, fuel or medicines".
