The billionaire Tesla boss agreed a £34.5 billion takeover deal with the Twitter board last month.
The EU warned Musk that Twitter would have to abide by European laws on hate speech if it wanted to avoid a ban.
He also suggested that Donald Trump could be allowed back on the platform by Musk.
The self-proclaimed "free speech absolutist" isn't afraid of doing some cancelling of his own.
Nigel Farage congratulated Elon Musk, saying he hopes this "marks a turning point" for the social media giant.
"This might be the only way he sleeps at night, to lie to himself."
