“I am basically British but because of a few technicalities I am treated differently, I just think it’s fundamentally very unfair," she told The London Economic.
“There may be good policy reasons for empowering the home secretary to deprive a person of citizenship without giving notice, but such a step is not lawful under this legislation," Lady Justice Whipple has said.
The government’s Nationality and Borders Bill has sparked a heated debate on the power the home secretary will have to remove citizenship from people.
“Depriving people of their citizenship means stripping away their identity, their sense of belonging and their ability to seek protection. As such, it is wrong in principle," one lawyer said.
Despite the Tories' claim, two prominent UK lawyers and the United Nations released serious warnings for the UK public regarding the Nationality and Borders Bill.
The new government Bill creates "different classes of British citizenship" and has no meaning "if it discriminates", Good Law Project said.
"I am simply glad to be able to keep my life as it had been before a referendum in which I had no say, but turned my life upside down."
It could also allow the government to act retrospectively when it comes to British citizenship - which is not the first time the Home Office has pushed for retrospective law related to British citizenship this year.
