Brexit bureaucracy decimating Scottish whisky industry, ministers warned
Scottish rural economy minister Fergus Ewing said the sector was being decimated by the pandemic, Brexit and tariffs.
The UK is the first and so far only country to have left the EU and Brexit was and is the withdrawal of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU) and the European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC or Euratom). The official withdrawal was at 23:00 31 January 2020 GMT (00:00 CET).

MPs were also warned that the UK could be “50,000 customs agents” short of what is needed when import regulations are enforced from April.
Just over a month since Boris Johnson’s new trade deal with Brussels came into effect, the leading business lobby group warned that urgent action was needed to solve mounting issues with cross-border trade.

The capital’s service sectors will bear the brunt of a downturn, according to a study published by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan.
The peer called for the EU to adopt a “different spirit” in order to ease the “more than bumpy” relationship.
Peter Cowgill, executive chairman, said disruption in shipping goods to mainland Europe meant extra costs in the “double digit millions”.
