Brexit: Some port workers return to inspection duties in Northern Ireland after threats
Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) chief constable Simon Byrne has warned of a “febrile” atmosphere.
The UK is the first and so far only country to have left the EU and Brexit was and is the withdrawal of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU) and the European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC or Euratom). The official withdrawal was at 23:00 31 January 2020 GMT (00:00 CET).

It comes amid growing concerns over Indyref2 ahead of Holyrood elections.
“I think it’s important to emphasise all this that whereas we may be told that these are teething troubles, or that they’re down to Covid-19, it is simply is not the case."
“Those who championed Brexit and are crying salty tears now because of the consequences of Brexit need to accept that those are consequences of their decisions, their actions, and to not point the finger at others.”
Ireland’s foreign affairs minister has said any attempt to undermine the Northern Ireland Protocol poses “real difficulties”.
“It’s a monumentally stupid situation for a country supposed to be standing on its own two feet and exporting round the world.”
