Rishi Sunak's Budget did not mention Brexit once. Why?
The UK is the first and so far only country to have left the EU and Brexit was and is the withdrawal of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU) and the European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC or Euratom). The official withdrawal was at 23:00 31 January 2020 GMT (00:00 CET).
Rishi Sunak's Budget did not mention Brexit once. Why?
Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) Chief Constable Simon Byrne previously warned of a “febrile” atmosphere and urged people to step back from the brink of violence.
Ministers announced they would extend a grace period for UK supermarkets and suppliers to help them adapt to new trade barriers in the Irish Sea.
“It cannot have been the aspiration of Brexit, with fishing as the totemic issue and which a lot of people voted upon, to actually lose jobs within fishing and the supply chain, including boats landing overseas because the paperwork is easier."
"No man has damaged our country as much as David Cameron. No contrition, no shame, no apology, still the same arrogant sense of entitlement, still rich, cosseted, oblivious to the misery he has visited upon others."
The Labour politician claimed the Tories ‘seem to have been focused on a strategy of extrication’ over support for businesses and jobs.
"If there were even a scintilla of truth behind stories that businesses are 'flourishing' because of Brexit, they wouldn't need to pay the Mail or the Express to print them."
"No preparation was possible for Govt incompetence and negligence though."
"We all know that the world needs the UK much more than the UK needs the world."
