Food shortage fears spark plan to ease Brexit checks on EU imports
Lord Frost, Boris Johnson’s Brexit minister, is reportedly considering allowing “lighter touch” controls on imports from 1 April.
The UK is the first and so far only country to have left the EU and Brexit was and is the withdrawal of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU) and the European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC or Euratom). The official withdrawal was at 23:00 31 January 2020 GMT (00:00 CET).

French exports to the UK plummeted by 13 per cent in January compared to the average of the previous six months.
“It’s very unfortunate that having spent 20 years building really good relations between Belfast and Dublin, between Dublin and London, we’ve thrown all that away in the context of Brexit and this latest row has made it a whole lot worse.”

Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) Chief Constable Simon Byrne previously warned of a “febrile” atmosphere and urged people to step back from the brink of violence.
Ministers announced they would extend a grace period for UK supermarkets and suppliers to help them adapt to new trade barriers in the Irish Sea.
“It cannot have been the aspiration of Brexit, with fishing as the totemic issue and which a lot of people voted upon, to actually lose jobs within fishing and the supply chain, including boats landing overseas because the paperwork is easier."
