Supermarket shortages here to stay forever, industry boss warns
The Food and Drink Federation said the days when consumers could expect anything they want on supermarket shelves are gone.
The UK is the first and so far only country to have left the EU and Brexit was and is the withdrawal of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU) and the European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC or Euratom). The official withdrawal was at 23:00 31 January 2020 GMT (00:00 CET).
The Food and Drink Federation said the days when consumers could expect anything they want on supermarket shelves are gone.
Figures released this week show Britain has been relegated from Germany's top 10 trading countries.
“The UK is the only one of the 10 biggest countries to see this happen, with Brexit exacerbating the decline.”
Current charges, which have remained unchanged since the UK severed ties with the EU, are roughly 0.5 per cent.
Gérald Darmanin, the French interior minister, publicly criticised the home secretary after a tense meeting on Wednesday.
The moves are part of an intensification of the DUP’s campaign of opposition to post-Brexit arrangements that have created trading barriers between Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
A flat £2 daily charge when roaming within an EU country will now apply to customers.
Brexit-related trade barriers have knocked Britain out of the top 10 for the first time since 1950.
"A large proportion of the workforce are EU nationals who chose to return to their home countries," a public transport representative said.
