Labour Party response to EU youth mobility deal branded ‘absurd’
Labour says it has “no plans” for doing a youth mobility deal with EU, saying it is “synonymous with free movement”.
The UK is the first and so far only country to have left the EU and Brexit was and is the withdrawal of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU) and the European Atomic Energy Community (EAEC or Euratom). The official withdrawal was at 23:00 31 January 2020 GMT (00:00 CET).
Labour says it has “no plans” for doing a youth mobility deal with EU, saying it is “synonymous with free movement”.
It is the fifth time the implementation of the new border controls has been pushed back, prompting ridicule on social media.
Under the terms of the deal, mobility would not be “purpose-bound”, allowing those taking part to study, work, train or travel as they choose.
The comedian likened the split to a cup of peppermint tea that gets stronger if you leave the teabag in the cup.
According to reports, Britain faces a £2 billion post-Brexit bill on European food imports from the end of the month.
While the government is encouraging the nation to consume more fresh produce, this will ensure "the exact opposite result.”
