Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson is a British politician and writer serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since July 2019. He was Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs 2016-2018 and Mayor of London 2008-2016. Johnson has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015 and was previously MP for Henley from 2001 to 2008. He has been described as adhering to the ideology of one-nation and national conservatism.

The MP for Plymouth, Moor View, also suggested “not a single member of the Conservative Party phoned me up” after the shootings in the city earlier this month, which he described as “very rare but grotesque violence”.

In stinging comments, the ex-PM said events in the Middle East were a "major setback" for British foreign policy.
Lord Deben said foreign aid cuts have hampered efforts to persuade developing nations to cut emissions.
"The government’s levelling up agenda is based on the premise the entire country has suffered some type of collective amnesia," he said.
"When shelves are bare in my local food banks, businesses have gone to the wall, public sector and key workers have suffered pay freezes and cuts, his priority is once again himself," said Labour MP for South Shields Emma Lewell-Buck.

"Someone is lying. And I know who has lied before…", Angela Rayner said after a Downing Street spokesperson said they did not come into close contact.
