The local Labour MP welcomed the news, calling the use of the barge “an expensive and unworkable gimmick”.
The barge was commissioned by the previous Tory government to accommodate up to 500 migrants.
"I thought once I put my foot on British soil I will be greeted as a partner, as a hero of a war which forced me to flee my country."
Police said they were called at around 8.40am on Thursday to reports of people obstructing a coach, which was parked outside a hotel in Peckham.
The incident is said to have happened shortly after Leonard Farruku, an Albanian asylum seeker, died while living on board the barge in December.
Leonard Farruku was found unresponsive aboard the accommodation vessel at Portland Port.
As well as the contract with CTM, the government is paying Dorset Council £3,5000 per occupied bed of the vessel, which can hold up to 504 migrants.
An asylum seeker died on the vessel moored in Portland Port, Dorset, earlier this week.
Lawyers representing the Fire Brigades Union have written to Suella Braverman raising concerns over issues such as overcrowding and fire exit access
