“What people will judge us on, as they will also judge other governments on, is delivery," cabinet minister Alok Sharma has said.
Prime minister Boris Johnson's handling of the UK's own affairs may have also weakened Britain's leadership by example.
Campaigners have expressed their outrage after being kept out of Cop26 climate talks, despite the Tory pledge that the international summit would be “the most inclusive ever” this year.
It comes as Alok Sharma says securing a climate deal in Glasgow will be "really tough" and could be harder “on lots of levels” than signing the Paris Agreement of 2015.

One writer said on Twitter that the company “robbed humanity of a generation’s worth of time to reverse climate change”.
