Liverpool assistant manager Zeljko Buvac is rumoured to be in line for the vacant manager’s job at Arsenal.
According to Sport Witness reports from Buvac’s native Bosnia suggest Jurgen Klopp’s long-term number 2 could be set to replace Arsene Wenger when he leaves at the end of the season.
The source – which comes from Pravda BL – also correctly predicted Klopp’s appointment at Anfield before he took up the post in 2015.
Buvac temporarily suspended his position at Anfield until the end of the season, just days before the club’s crucial semi-final against Roma.
Nick-named “the brains” of the operation he is known to be largely responsible for Liverpool’s attacking style of play, which has obvious overlaps with the long-term philosophy at Arsenal.
Bookmaker Paddy Power has slashed Buvac’s odds on becoming the next Arsenal manager from a 200/1 ‘no chance’ to a 14/1 contender over the last 24 hours.
A spokesman said: “We all know that Arsene Wenger had a philosophy at Arsenal, so it’s appropriate that a man known as ‘the brains’ is linked with succeeding him.
“This would be very bold, though – and distinctly un-Arsenal like – but we can’t ignore what our punters are telling us.”
