Reform UK and its MPs have remained completely silent on Donald Trump following his verbal attacks on Ukraine and its leader Volodymyr Zelensky.
In the last couple of days, Trump has peddled lines that sound like they came straight from the Kremlin itself, as he continued to cosy up to Vladimir Putin.
On Wednesday, the US president labelled Zelensky a “dictator.” This came after he accused Ukraine of starting the war with Russia.
His comments have been widely condemned by European nations, figures, and the media.
But there’s one group of politicians who have remained conspicuously quiet on the issue – Reform UK and its MPs.
None of the party’s five MPs have made statements criticising Trump’s words or showing support for Zelensky and Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the party’s official social media accounts have also remained silent on the issue, releasing no statement on the matter.
Of course, the fact that Reform and their leader Nigel Farage have spent the last few months pandering to Trump is no doubt a completely unrelated coincidence.
In a post on X pointing out their silence, Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham wrote: “Normally you can’t escape @reformparty_uk MPs gobbing off on here but interesting, isn’t it, how silent they are about their friend’s campaign to undermine @ZelenskyyUa and Ukraine.
“Just when you need them to use some influence to protect British interests, they don’t.”
Meanwhile, Lib Dem leader Ed Davey called out Farage on X, saying he was “unusually quiet.”
This came after Davey called for the “whole political spectrum” in the UK to “speak with one voice in opposition to Trump’s lies.”
Others pointed out the irony of the party who make the biggest deal over protecting sovereignty not saying anything when the sovereignty of another nation is under threat.
