‘He should have turned on the Today show!’ Presenter rages over ‘nonsense’ excuse

Sky News presenter Niall Paterson wasn’t holding back when quizzing former health secretary Jeremy Hunt on yesterday’s High Court judgement.

Asked about the government’s policy of discharging people from hospital into care homes without COVID testing, Hunt said being prime minister or health secretary in the midst of a pandemic is “incredibly challenging” and “you’re going to make some mistakes”.

He confirmed that his committee looked into the issue and reached a similar conclusion to the High Court.

He told Sky News that “we should have done much more to learn from what happened in other countries” – pointing out that in Germany, people discharged from hospital into care homes had to be isolated unless there was a negative test.
