The UK media has united in its condemnation of Donald Trump after he continued his criticism of Ukraine.
This week, the US and Russia met for the first talks to end the war in Ukraine – without inviting Ukraine themselves.
This was followed by Trump blaming Ukraine for the war lasting three years, accusing them of “starting it” and labelling Volodymyr Zelensky a “dictator.”
His comments have been widely condemned by European nations and figures, and on Thursday morning the newspapers of Britain made it clear what they thought about the US president.
In their headline, the Daily Express said Trump’s ‘shameful’ attack had stunned the world.
The Mirror sent its support to Ukraine, and slammed Trump as “deranged,” whilst the Daily Mail said he had ‘appalled’ the world.
Meanwhile, the Guardian and the i said the rift between Trump and Zelensky had grown.
But perhaps it was the Daily Star that stole the show, by allowing to let some creative pictures do the talking, simply describing Trump as ‘Putin’s Poodle’ and an ‘orange manbaby.’
On Wednesday evening, Prime Minister Keir Starmer phoned Zelensky to pledge the UK’s support to Ukraine.
In a post on X, the Ukrainian president thanked Sir Keir for his support.
He wrote: “I spoke with UK Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer. The United Kingdom’s role in fortifying Europe’s defense and security is important for us. We discussed upcoming plans and opportunities.
“UK’s support matters indeed, and we will never forget the respect the British people have shown for Ukraine and our citizens. Thank you for your support.”
