Roger Stone looks deeply worried in this photo taken weeks before his dawn raid arrest on Friday.
He is expected to cooperate now with the Robert Mueller inquiry into Russian interference in the US presidential election of 2016, bringing the inquiry further closer to Donald Trump.
The political consultant, 66, remained stony-faced while his fellow Trump supporters laughed and cheered throughout this political event in Pompano Beach, Florida on October 23.
“He looked like he was in a foul mood, while everybody else was laughing and enjoying listening to the speakers, he looked like he was just waiting to get out of there,” said an onlooker at the event, who did not wish to be named.
“He was the keynote speaker so he came in with a large entourage and sat down waiting until it was time for him to give his speech.
“He never smiled, he looked as if he was very annoyed to be there, he was just sitting, looking at his papers, or staring straight ahead into nothing.”
The dinner, held for local Trump supporters, was at Galuppi’s Restaurant, an American eatery located on a golf course on the eastern coast of the southern US state.
Tickets cost around $100 each and the venue was scattered with tables selling Trump merchandise.
“In his speech he talked about being a supporter and a friend of Trump’s and he was telling people not to believe the fake news media,” said the onlooker.
Stone was also taking the opportunity to sell copies of his latest book: ‘How to Win at Politics, Business, and Style.’
“After his speech he gave a quick book signing,” said the onlooker.
“He didn’t engage with anyone for long at all though, it was a very fast thing, he just quickly signed some books and left.”
Robin Beers, a professional photographer for Crushin’ It Media, had been employed to take photos of everyone at the party.
“Roger Stone came across as confident on the stage but when he was seated he didn’t appear so confident, he looked worried, the contrast intrigued me, so I took a lot of photos of him,” she said.
