Woman, 29, questioned over fatal stabbing of pensioner in South East London

Murder Squad detectives held a 29-year-old woman in connection with the fatal stabbing of a pensioner.

Leroy ‘Junior’ Edwards, 66, suffered multiple knife wounds at a property in Catford, south east London, in the early hours of Saturday.

He was rushed to hospital, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

A post mortem at Greenwich Mortuary gave the cause of death as stab wounds to the neck and chest.

Police say a 29-year-old woman was arrested on Sunday night in Basildon, Essex, on suspicion of murder.

She was taken to a north London police station where she remains in custody.

The Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command is conducting the investigation, and detectives are appealing for witnesses.

Det Chief Insp Simon Pickford, who is leading the investigation, said: “Although we have made one arrest already in connection to this murder, we are still keen to hear from anyone who was in the area that may have heard or seen anything.

“No matter how insignificant you think the information might be, it is all useful to our investigation.”
