Watch school striker Greta Thunberg’s rapturous address to London climate protestors

Greta Thunberg is in London meeting Jeremy Corbyn, Sir Vince Cable and other party leaders in Westminster this morning. Though a Green Party member arranging meetings said the Prime Minister Theresa May had turned down the climate activist’s invitation.

The School Strike For Climate movement started when Greta Thunberg, began striking from school and protesting outside the Swedish parliament in Stockholm last year, aged 15, for more to be done to fight climate change.

Her story travelled around the globe, and soon school children in 123 countries were joining Greta, now 16, in her school strike every Friday around the world.

The Swedish teen who is also vocal about her Aspergers Syndrome, now nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize has addressed world leaders at Davos and the European Union, with emotional pleas to do more to stop devastating climate change.

This weekend, Greta Thunberg was greeted with cries of “we love you” as she addressed Extinction Rebellion protesters camped in Marble Arch for a second week of peaceful civil disobedience.

The global protest is calling for urgent steps to the “climate breakdown and ecological collapse that threaten our existence,” including governments “telling the truth” about the scale of the crisis; legally binding policies to reduce carbon emissions to net zero by 2025; and “citizens’ assemblies” to help oversee the changes needed.

“Together we can make a difference,” Greta Thunberg told a rapturous crowd in the capital. Watch her emotive address:
