A frustrated Jeremy Corbyn told the Victoria Derbyshire show that Labour could win a snap election.
The presenter pressed the labour leader for a yes or no answer, he was sick of being asked and replied: “Listen, you’ve asked me the question many times. How many times do I have to tell you? We’re taking our case out there to win because we believe we can win.”
Many Corbyn supporters believe that his own party are responsible for the large Tory lead in polls over Labour, leading many to think they wouldn’t win an election if a snap election was called.
However, Corbyn believes that if the party shows unity and stands up for people who feel Tory cuts have hurt them, he can win the nation around and become the next PM. His case is not helped by some of the criticism coming from the Labour ranks, for example Peter Mandelson said: “I try to undermine Jeremy Corbyn ‘every single day.’
The recent victory in the Stoke Central by-election against UKIP was a positive outcome for Labour, but losing Copeland, to the Tories, at the same time was seen a poor result.
