Nigel Farage had his day in the sin today during an emergency meeting of the EU Parliament, to discuss the ramification of Brexit.
Farage, during his speech, told the meeting of European MEPs, “you’re not laughing now.”
His comments were met with boos and jeers from many in the chamber. Farage wasn’t finished there though, he said they were “in denial” and then told MEPs that they had “never had a proper job before.”
I guess for someone who doesn’t intend to come back anytime soon, it doesn’t really matter.
Farage said: “”When I came here 17 years ago and said I wanted to lead a campaign to get Britain to leave the European Union you all laughed at me.
“Well I have to say you’re not laughing now are you?”
Earlier in the session Jean-Claude Juncker said that: “”We must respect British democracy and the way it has expressed its view,” and UKIP members applauded his comments, probably for the first time ever.
Junker then broke from his speech and turned to Farage and said: “That’s the last time you are applauding here… and to some extent I’m really surprised you are here. You are fighting for the exit. The British people voted in favour of the exit. Why are you here?”
You get the feeling they are sad to see Britain leave but will be happy not to have to see Farage and his merry band of MEPs ever again.
