This is the little girl tragically killed after being hit by a rock near a cliff while on seaside holiday.
Harriet Emily Nicola Forster had been visiting Staithes, North Yorks., with her family when she was hit by falling rocks and suffered serious head injuries at around 4.47pm on Wednesday (Aug 8).
Despite heroic efforts by the emergency services, Harriet was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Her family, who are from Oxford, said they could not comprehend the tragedy and described the youngster as ‘the light of our lives’.
In a statement released by North Yorkshire Police this morning (Fri), Harriet’s family said: “We cannot comprehend the enormity of this tragedy.
“Harriet was the light of our lives.
“We ask that you give us time as a family to support each other through our indescribable pain. Thank you.”
The force is currently compiling a report about the circumstances of the death on behalf of the coroner.
