Tory MP Nadine Dorries avoided having to give evidence at an employment tribunal by agreeing a last minute out of court settlement with her former PA.
The maverick MP for Mid Bedfordshire’s ex PA Andrea Gordon planned to sue the former I’m A Celebrity.. contestant for unfair dismissal and disability discrimination.
Mrs Gordon’s claim, which also included breach of contract and failure to pay allegations, was due to be heard at Watford Employment Tribunal in Herts.
But lawyers representing the 61-year-old MP and Mrs Gordon, 63, came to an undisclosed settlement after hours of talks behind closed doors.
The tribunal, which had been scheduled to last four days, heard both parties had agreed to a “withdrawal” and “dismissal”.
Employment Judge Jo Bartlett said: “I hear you have come to an agreement.”
James Dawson, on behalf of Mrs Gordon, said: “We have.
“Can I thank you for your and your colleagues’ patience.
“We would like to withdraw.”
Judge Bartlett said: “So I can put that down as withdrawal and dismissal?”
Mr Dawson agreed.
Stuart Brittenden, on behalf of the MP, said: “We are agreed.
“We are also grateful for to you and your colleagues.”
Following the tribunal, the court clerk confirmed a settlement had been agreed.
Clerk Silvan Senior said: “Both parties reached a settlement out of court.
“I am not privy to the details.”
Mrs Dorries did not attend Monday’s hearing.
Mrs Gordon, of Meppershall, Beds, did attend but declined to comment on the case.
