Thousands of EU flags spotted at Last Night of the Proms following huge drop by campaigners

Thousands of EU flags were spotted at the Last Night of the Proms in what is becoming a time-honoured tradition.

The classical music festival drew to a close at the Royal Albert Hall last night after another successful summer of shows featuring musicians from around the world.

Director David Pickard said it was the first “really full” Last Night since 2019, following Covid and the Queen’s death.

Crowds sang along, waved flags, and stomped their feet, including to Rule, Britannia!

But it was the high number of EU flags that really got people talking after campaigners managed to drop off thousands ahead of the show.

People were quick to take to X (formerly Twitter) with pictures of inside the Albert Hall.
