Scottish government admits Alex Salmond inquiry failure

The Scottish government has admitted it did not follow the proper procedures while investigating sexual harassment claims against Alex Salmond.

Allegations against the former first minister, which he denies, were made to the Scottish government a year ago.

As a result, it has admitted defeat in its legal battle with Mr Salmond.

Mr Salmond, had been both an MP and an MSP for the SNP, had been a member of the party for 45 years when he resigned from the party amidst the allegations.

He was also party leader for 20 years over that period.
