Labour politician and MP for Rotherham Sarah Champion has asked Jeremy Corbyn for her job back after resigning at the end of June.
Champion was part of the Labour coup which failed to overturn the leader at the end of June, and she now appears to have gone back cap in hand to ask to be reinstated as Shadow Minister.
She wrote:
Dear Jeremy
I would like to formally retract my resignation and ask to be reinstated to my role as Shadow Home Office minister for preventing abuse and domestic violence with immediate effect.
Kindest regards
Sarah Champion
Champion was one of the few MPs to nominate Corbyn during the last leadership contest, but was thought to have done it to ‘broaden the debate’.
Her resignation in June was thought to have come as a blow to the Labour leader.
I have just stepped down from my shadow minister job, but not my responsibilities to my constituents, party or victims of abuse
