Rishi Sunak has spent the week telling us all that he is a man of ‘long-term commitments’. Although he falls short of this vow with many of his policies, it seems his determination to turn his back on net zero commitments is limitless.

PM retreats from climate commitments
That’s because the Prime Minister has decided to upgrade which plane he uses for various engagements. He has been criticised recently for taking domestic journeys in luxury airliners, instead of using more climate-friendly alternatives.
However, following his pledge to scale-back on net zero policies, it’s unlikely that Sunak will be changing his jet-setting ways any time soon. In fact, it looks as if he’s leaning further into them – and his new choice of plane certainly comes with a good backstory.
Man City’s luxury jet handed over to Rishi Sunak
The aircraft was used to ferry Manchester City about during their historic treble winning season. The all-conquering side claimed the Premier League title, the FA Cup, and the Champions League trophy earlier this year – and the PM will be hoping to inherit some of their winning ways.
With a general election on the horizon, Sunak needs an immediate change in fortunes. He trails Keir Starmer and the Labour Party by at least 20 points in most major polls. Whether swapping his private plane can make a difference certainly remains to be seen.
Rishi Sunak racks up the air miles
As reported by the Huffington Post, the handover is already underway. Rishi’s new plane has been flown into London, and it’s getting a facelift. Union Jack livery will be emblazoned on the tail of the jet – which could be ready for official use before the end of the month.
How the other half live, eh?
