Police hunting knifeman after officer stabbed outside London railway station make arrest

Police hunting a knifeman after an officer was stabbed outside a railway station have made an arrest.

A British Transport Police (BTP) officer was knifed near Ilford station in east London at around 9.45pm last night (SAT).

The policeman was taken to hospital, but his condition is not believed to be life threatening.

A BTP spokesman said: “Officers are appealing for information after a police officer was stabbed outside Ilford Station at around 9.45pm on Friday evening.

“A male officer was approached whilst on duty outside Ilford Station and was attacked with a knife.”

The policeman was taken to hospital by paramedics where he was treated for injuries “not thought to be life threatening.”

He added: “A man has been arrested.

“Police are asking that anyone who was at Ilford Railway Station earlier on Friday evening and saw anything of the incident, to please get in touch.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or with information should contact BTP by sending a text.”
