Images have emerged on Twitter of armed police making a woman remove her “Burkini” while resting on Nice beach, next to the Promenade des Anglais where 84 people were tragically murdered in a terrorist attack.
The photographs appear to show a number of armed officers, congregating around a women lying on the beach. She appears to be wearing a headscarf.
Reports have said that the police spoke to her and demanded she removed the headwear and it there have been claims she was also issued with a fine.
A number of women across France have been slapped with these fines since they were brought in after the attack, which was claimed by IS.
An organisation called the Human Rights League (LDH) said the ban is a “serious and illegal attack on numerous fundamental rights”, including freedom of religion.
