KCTMO warn residents in flats opposite Grenfell about “anti-social behaviour”

Tenant management organisation KCTMO has sent letters to residents in the flats opposite Grenfell Towers warning them about anti-social behaviour. The letter threatens legal action over misdemeanours such as ball games just days after the neighbouring tower, which they also manage, burnt down. Residents living in Grenfell had previously accused their landlords of been “evil, unprincipled” and like a “mini-mafia”. Incredibly, people in flats opposite #Grenfell today received letter warning them about anti-social behaviour, threatening legal action. pic.twitter.com/w8SQepjpOB — Paul Brand (@PaulBrandITV)...

Local councillor warns that tensions could flare if authorities don’t take control of Grenfell disaster

Violence could erupt on the streets of London if the authorities don't take control of the Grenfell disaster aftermath, warned a local councillor. She said local people are "angry" in the wake of the catastrophic blaze and there will be "unrest in the streets" if council chiefs don't step in. Eartha Pond said donations and aid to victims of the Grenfell tower fire have been mainly community led. And she warned that if the local authority doesn't act quickly, civil...

Queen visit to Grenfell Tower rubbishes Theresa May’s security concerns

The Queen has today met with residents of Grenfell Tower a day after Theresa May avoided them due to security concerns. Her majesty met with local residents and community representatives along with the Duke of Cambridge, as well as paying tribute to the "brave" firefighters and the "incredible generosity" of volunteers now offering support. Yesterday the Prime Minister was accused of failing to show humanity after she spoke with emergency service crews during a visit to the site but refused to meet...

Theresa May vows inquiry into Grenfell Tower fire, but why did Tories ignore last tower block blaze report?

As both Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn visited the devastating scene of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, the PM pledged a full public probe into the blaze that claimed many lives. As we reported yesterday there was a marked contrast between the Labour leader who spoke to survivors and members of the community, attended a church service and spent time listening to those affected and the Prime Minister who was criticised widely for not letting the public near her. She announced a...

Two fairground workers were today charged over the death of a seven-year-old girl who was crushed to death on a bouncy castle. The youngster, from Norwich, Norfolk, was taken to the nearby Princess Alexandra Hospital but died a few hours later. Shelby Thurston, 25, and William Thurston, 28, both fairground employees, of Wilburton, Cambs., were...

Is this the most damning indictment of Theresa May’s premiership?

A week after Theresa May suffered a heavy blow at the hands of the British electorate she may be about to suffer her biggest set back yet - after she was made odds-on leave Downing Street before Arsene Wenger exits Emirates. The Prime Minister has come under fire after last week’s general election saw the party lose their majority share of seats in parliament, and an online bookmaker thinks May will walk the plank before Arsenal’s long term gaffer does.   Arsene Wenger...

The Government must look after ordinarily working people as growth lowest for four years. GMB union has called for urgent action on the cost of living crisis as retail sales growth slumped to its lowest level for four years. Figures from the ONS this morning show that the annual retail sales growth rate was the lowest since April 2013. Non-food stores were the main contributing factors to this slowdown with an annual fall of 1.2% and predominantly food stores saw...

Let’s clear the air…for National Clean Air Day

Today marks the first ever National Clean Air Day, a chance for the whole country to come together and improve air quality through collective action. Air pollution contributes to 40,000 premature deaths a year in the UK but progress on this issue has been glacially slow. Recently the government was successfully taken to court by NGO Client Earth for failing to meet pledges on air pollution, forcing the publication of a new clean air plan by 31 July. A draft air quality plan for...
