A new Google Chrome plug-in has been developed that translates all mentions of Tommy Robinson to “convicted fraudster Stephen Yaxley-Lennon”.
Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon, was jailed for 13 months for potentially prejudicing a court case.
The hashtag #FreeTommyRobinson has been populated by sympathisers since his sentencing, but few people know the name is an alias.
To avoid any confusion, HOPE not hate has released a ‘Tommy Robinson’ Chrome extension that translates all mentions of the former EDL leader to “convicted fraudster Stephen Yaxley-Lennon”.
Speaking about the new plugin, communications director Nick Ryan said: “The time’s come to set the record straight. He’s not Tommy, he’s Stephen, he has a double-barrelled surname and he’s not a champion of citizen journalism or freedom of speech, he’s a serial offender and thug with multiple convictions ranging from violence to drug offences and fraud.
“Now that he’s imperilled not one but two different trials, we think our new Chrome extension will help remind people just ‘who’ Stephen Yaxley-Lennon really is: a fraudster who hoodwinks others about the lies and hatred he drags in his wake”.
