The mother and sister of a British woman last seen outside an Irish bar in Tenerife five days ago have flown out to the island to search for her.
Amy Louise Gerard, 28, was last seen outside Irish bar Molly Malone’s in Puerto de la Cruz in the early hours of Friday morning (Nov 30).
It has been reported Ms Gerard was seen enjoying herself with other drinkers and dancing to the Pogues’ ‘Fairy Tale of New York’ in the bar last Thursday.
Ms Gerard, originally from Cleethorpes, Lincs., works at Tenerife’s Loro Parque marine theme park and lives and works on the Spanish Island with boyfriend and fellow marine wildlife trainer Dennis Kissling.
According to eye-witness reports, the pair later walked out of the bar and headed their separate ways – with Amy turning left and Dennis turning right.
Her sister Chloe, from Sheffield, South Yorks., and her mum have flown out to help in the search.
However, they said so far they’ve had no updates from police.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has confirmed it’s assisting the family of a British woman in Tenerife.
Police and the coastguard have searched the shoreline amid fears she may have fallen into the sea and drowned.
Friends and loved ones have described her disappearance as totally out of character.
They have posted appeals on social media for any information regarding her whereabouts.
Amy’s mum Julie wrote on Facebook: “Thanks to everyone for sharing this information.
“It’s not like my daughter to go missing and not contact us.
“We’re all very worried and need new information.
“Please contact the police if you’ve seen or heard anything from Amy since Thursday night.
“We want her found as soon as possible.”
