Labour odds to win election slashed from 16/1 to 7/1

Bookies have slashed Labour’s odds of gaining the most seats in the General Election from 16/1 to 7/1 in just two weeks.

A strong display from Corbyn and Co has led to a revival of Labour’s chances at getting a result in June.

May’s dementia tax and a “strong and stable” message that has been impeded by u-turns  has also dropped the odds, although the Conservatives are still sitting pretty at 1/16.

Betway’s Alan Alger, said: “Jeremy Corbyn leading the UK was almost unthinkable two weeks ago at 16/1, but punters are beginning to sense a changing of the guard and Labour must be taken seriously at 7/1.

“It’s still very much the Tories to lose at 1/16, and it would go down as one of the biggest shocks in political betting history if Theresa May was not to stay in office, but the momentum behind Labour is definitely building.”
