This is the moment a journalist realised mid-interview that she wasn’t been paid to take part in a misogyny debate on Sky News.
Moya Lothian-McLean took part in a debate on the limits of free speech after Dan Wootton and Laurence Fox were both suspended following comments about a female journalist that have been described as “unacceptable, unjustifiable and indefensible”.
But she didn’t realise that the man who was arguing that society is not structurally unequal was getting paid while she was not.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Lothian-McLean posted that Sky has confirmed the man was being paid to take part in the debate.
She has asked for the same fee and will be donating it to Beyond Equality, a charity that runs education programmes for men and boys aimed at disrupting harmful norms and creating possibilities for positive change.
