Comedian John Cleese has courted controversy after claiming London is “no longer English”.
The ardent Brexiteer recently moved to the Caribbean island of Nevis announcing that he made the move because he was disappointed with Britain.
He took to Twitter to vent about the state of the country, saying:
“Some years ago I opined that London was not really an English city any more.
“Since then, virtually all my friends from abroad have confirmed my observation.
“So there must be some truth in it…
“I note also that London was the UK city that voted most strongly to remain in the EU.”
His comments have not been well received by many online.
Scottish comedian, Limmy simply wrote “John Cleese is cancelled.”
