Ofcom has confirmed it has received a number of complaints about comments made by Laurence Fox on GB News last night.
The regulator responded after Fox made a series of remarks about Ava Evans, the political correspondent for online news site PoliticsJOE, including describing her as a “little woman” during an episode of Dan Wootton Tonight on Tuesday.
Evans shared a clip of the comments on social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, with the caption “Laurence Fox just did a whole speech on GB News on why men apparently won’t shag me ?” which has been viewed more than 2.1 million times.
GB News said it has launched an investigation, branding Fox’s comments “totally unacceptable”, and adding: “What he said does not reflect our values and we apologise unreservedly for the comments and the offence they have caused.”
Host Dan Wootton has also apologised for a “very unfortunate lapse in judgment”.
Support for Evans has flooded in since, with Kate McCann describing the comments as “utterly grim”.
A social media account operating under the handle ‘Miffy’ added that the clip is “jaw-dropping and awful”, while Simon Harris described it as “beyond grim”.
Carol Vorderman has also shared a link to the Ofcom case to allow others to complain about the vile clip.
