Girl, 17, stabbed to death in south London bringing capital’s murder toll to 89

A teenage girl was been stabbed to death in south London bringing the capital’s murder toll to 89.

The girl, 17, was found at an address in Camberwell just after 12.16pm this afternoon .

Despite efforts by paramedics and air ambulance doctors she died three-quarters of an hour later.

A man aged 21 who knew the girl has been arrested on suspicion of murder

Scotland Yard said: “Police are investigating the death of a teenager in Southwark.

“Officers were called at 12.16pm on Thursday, 12 July to a residential address on Brisbane Street to reports of a stabbing.

“The London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance also attended. Despite their best efforts, a 17-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene at 13:02hrs.

“Next of kin have been made informed.

“A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

“A 21-year-old man – who was known to her – has been arrested on suspicion of murder, and is currently in custody at a south London police station.

“A crime scene is in place at the address.

“The Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command has been notified.

“Enquiries continue.”
