An animated graphic illustrating the meteoric rise of Jeremy Corbyn is making the rounds on social media.
The moving chart shows the top 20 UK MPs by number of Twitter followers between October 2015 and May 2019.
While serving PM David Cameron ranks in the top position for the most part, Corbyn storms past the former Conservative leader in 2016 after he famously survived a leadership contest.
Come mid 2017- after Labour increased their share of the popular vote to 40 per cent in the General Election – Corbyn’s social media following dwarfed his closest rivals.
Today the Labour leader has a massive 1.96 million followers on his Twitter profile, compared to just 836,000 who follow Theresa May.
David Lammy (550k), Caroline Lucas (375k) and Chuka Umunna (373k) are other notable growth-accounts.
