Dan Wootton apology slapped with a communuty note on X

Dan Wootton’s apology to Ava Evans has been issued with a community note on X after a text exchange was leaked by Laurence Fox.

The GB News presenter has been suspended after Fox made a series of “unacceptable” comments about the PoliticsJOE journalist on his show.

Evans, a former producer at LBC, shared a clip of the comments on social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, with the caption: “Laurence Fox just did a whole speech on GB News on why men apparently won’t shag me?” which has been viewed millions of times.

In a follow-up tweet to her nearly 100,000 followers she added that the footage made her feel “physically sick”.

On Wednesday morning, Wootton apologised for a “very unfortunate lapse in judgment” in a follow-up post to an earlier apology.

But the post has now been slapped with a community note after a text exchange between Wootton and Fox came to light.

It reads: “Laurence Fox has shared a private message conversation between himself and Dan Woottoon where they laugh and joke about his contribution.

“Mr Woootoon shares several crying with laughter emojis which strongly indicate that he was, indeed, amused by Mr Fox’s contribution.”

The text exchange by Fox was leaked on social media in an apparent snide by the actor, who has yet to apologise for his remarks.
