The Labour Party Conference erupted into cheers after Jeremy Corbyn told Theresa May that if she can’t negotiate a Brexit deal she must “make way for a party that can”.
Brexit has been a focal part of this year’s conference with both Corbyn and Deputy Leader Tom Watson leaving all options are on the table ahead of the meeting in Liverpool.
Corbyn said a No-deal Brexit would be a “national disaster” in his headline speech today, adding that if the Tories cannot deliver a Brexit that delivers a custom union and no hard border in Ireland then they “need to make way for a party that can”.
Calling for a General Election he said “Brexit is about the future of our country and our vital interests” and “is not about leadership squabbles or parliamentary posturing”.
He added that the deal must also protect jobs, people’s rights at work and environmental and consumer standards.
