Murder Squad cops probing the murder of a bouncer outside a VIP party in London’s West End have charged a man with firearms offences.
Tudor Simionov, 33, a Romanian national, was hailed a hero after tackling thugs who tried to storm the venue on posh Park Lane in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
Police say 26-year-old Imran Mostafa Kamel, of Ealing, west London, has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or danger, and possession of a firearm when prohibited for life.
He was due to appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today (THURS).
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “A man arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of a man in Park Lane on January 1 has been charged with firearms offences.
“Imran Mostafa Kamel, 26, has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or danger, and possession of a firearm when prohibited for life.
“The charges have been brought in connection with a separate incident at Fountain House on Park Lane, Westminster, at around 5.36am on Tuesday January 1st.
“The firearms offences are not directly connected to the death of 33-year-old Tudor Simionov or the other persons injured in the attack. No firearm was discharged during the incident.”
Mr Siminiov had only recently moved to Britain, and had been living in Ilford, east London.
Two other doormen, aged 29 and 37, and a 29-year-old woman were also stabbed during the violent fracas.
